I have a strong focus within my research on drylands, searching for patterns along gradients and boundaries within these continuities. I attempt to combine spatial data and knowledge on these processes throughout scales and organisms to generate a more sound understanding of these ecosystems and processes.

In addition I am fascinated by the trinity of open source data, statistical models and available computer resources that currently enhance our possibilities. I try to contribute to other projects by acquiring and processing spatial data and providing statistical frameworks to combine this data with data from trained specialists across all sorts of organisms and research questions.

Despite methodological applications my work is strongly focussed on nature conservation and sustainability, trying to link research results to public demands.
